The Collins Writing Program is a tool we use school wide to improve our students’ writing. The program has five different types.
- Type One writing captures ideas and is great to use to brainstorm. This writing is timed.
- Type Two writing shows that the writer knows something about a topic. It can be one paragraph to three paragraphs.
- Type Three writing is an essay and is graded by the assigned Focus Correction Areas.
- Type Four writing is Type Three writing but is edited by a peer.
- Type Five writing is Type Three and Four writing that is the final copy and publishable.
Students will keep a Collins Writing Folder that will contain all of their Collins Writing for the year.
