I graduated from Utica High School in June of 2003. I am a 2006 graduate of Macomb Community College with an Associates of Baccalaureate Studies History as well as an Associates of Baccalaureate Studies Education Secondary-History. It was there I read "Mary Rowlandson Recounts Her Captivity" and became hooked on American historiography, thus prompting me to transfer to Oakland University in early 2007. For the next two years I continued my studies of American history and American literature (1706 - 1826).
After writing a paper titled "Jefferson, Lincoln, Douglass and Twain Emancipate Secondary ELA Classrooms" I was encouraged to be in attendance at the Capital Building in Washington DC to witness Barack Obama take his Presidential Oath of Office and so I went. The following summer I did some field work at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, George Washington's Mount Vernon and the White House to continue my studies. That fall, I promptly worked on my graduation thesis "Thomas Jefferson’s Notes on the State of Virginia: Domesticating Women in the Early Republic" and completed my formal studies as a student of English language arts in December of 2009.
The following year I was invited to teach at Armada High School from August 2010 through April 2011. After teaching one academic year of American literature, composition and United States history I graduated from Oakland University on April 30th, 2011 with a Bachelors of Arts and Science, English and a Secondary Teacher Certification in English and History. Later that year, I moved to Armada Middle School to teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade ELA and technology courses as a long term sub form November until June 2012. From August 2012 until January 2013 I continued to work at both Armada High School and Armada Middle School in the English language arts and social studies departments.

This little guy is Oliver (yes he was named after Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist). He is a ten month old Yorkshire Terrior and LOVES to climb and hide his bones in the furniture. He is a clever little creature and keeps me very entertained with his antices.
